Question: How are hot spring eggs made?

Originally, eggs that were prepared this way were slow-cooked in Japans warm hot springs water. Whats so special about these eggs? These eggs are perfectly poached inside its shell. While the whites are soft and silky, the yolk comes out firm but retains the color and creamy texture of an uncooked yolk.

How do you cook eggs in a hot spring?

The traditional way of cooking onsen tamago is to place eggs into rope nets and leave them in an onsen, with water that is approximately 70 °C (158 °F) for 30 to 40 minutes.
