Question: How ENA test is done?

An extractable nuclear antigen (ENA) panel detects the presence of autoantibodies in the blood that react with proteins in the cell nucleus. These proteins are known as “extractable” because they can be removed from cell nuclei using saline and represent six main proteins (Ro, La, Sm, RNP, Scl-70 and Jo1).

What is anti DNA and ENA blood test?

An anti-ENA screen is usually prescribed following a positive result in an antinuclear antibody (ANA) test. While the ANA test suggests the presence of an autoimmune disorder, an anti-ENA panel makes it possible to distinguish between many different collagen diseases.
