Question: Can skin cancer be detected in a blood test?

Blood tests arent used to diagnose melanoma, but some tests may be done before or during treatment, especially for more advanced melanomas. Doctors often test blood for levels of a substance called lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) before treatment.

Can signs of cancer be detected in blood work?

With the exception of blood cancers, blood tests generally cant absolutely tell whether you have cancer or some other noncancerous condition, but they can give your doctor clues about whats going on inside your body.
